The Clemson Tigers (14-0) came from behind to defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes 29-23 in a Playoff Semifinal game at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, December 28, 2019. Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence finished 18-of-33 for 249 yards passing and two touchdowns. His eventual game-deciding touchdown pass to Travis Etienne with 1:49 remaining gave Clemson the late lead. Lawrence, who is 25-0 as a starter, was Clemson s leading rusher, finishing with 107 yards, including a career-long 67-yard touchdown gallop. With less than two minutes left in the game, Ohio State (13-1) needed 75 yards to score the go-ahead touchdown, but the drive was stopped when Clemson defensive back, Nolan Turner, intercepted a pass in the end zone. Behind the running of J. K. Dobbins, Ohio State led 16-0 late in the first half after Clemson s red zone defense forced the Buckeyes to settle for field goals. But under Lawrence s leadership and poise, the Tigers mounted a historic comeback. What a way to end a decade, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said after the game.
